Advancements in Intraocular Lens Technology
Modern advancements in intraocular lens technology allow patients to choose lenses tailored to their vision needs. Options include multifocal and toric lenses that correct distance, near, intermediate vision, and astigmatism.
These advanced lenses provide a broader range of clear vision and allow many patients to perform daily activities with little to no reliance on glasses.
CLE Procedure & Process
Clear Lens Exchange is an outpatient procedure performed in an ambulatory surgery center. Prior to surgery, the eye is anesthetized to ensure comfort.
During the procedure, the surgeon removes the eye’s natural lens through a micro-incision measuring 3 mm or less. The new intraocular lens is then inserted through the same incision, where it unfolds and is placed into its permanent position. The incision is self-healing, and stitches are not required.
In cases where corneal astigmatism is present, the surgeon may recommend Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs) at the time of CLE to further improve visual outcomes.
Post-Procedure Recovery
Patients typically go home shortly after the procedure and rest for the remainder of the day. Many notice vision improvement almost immediately, with continued improvement as the brain adapts to the new lens.
Most patients resume normal activities within one to two days. The procedure is commonly performed on both eyes on the same day for convenience and optimal results.
A LASIK Alternative for Lasting Vision
Unlike LASIK, which reshapes the cornea, CLE corrects vision by replacing the eye’s natural lens. This makes CLE an excellent option for patients who are not candidates for laser vision correction or who want a long-term solution that addresses presbyopia and prevents cataracts.
A Procedure to Reduce or Eliminate Dependence on Glasses
Clear Lens Exchange offers long-term visual freedom with advanced lens technology designed to fit your lifestyle.
