She went on to complete her medical degree through the competitive BA/MD program at the University of New Mexico, where she graduated in the top quartile of her class.
She completed her Ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch and was honored with the Senior Resident Teaching Award, selected by her peers and mentees in recognition of her responsiveness to patient needs that supersedes self-interest.
Dr. Podila has authored publications in multiple peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at the American Academy of Ophthalmology national conference.
Originally from southern New Mexico, Dr. Podila is passionate about patient-centered care and serving underserved communities. Outside of medicine, she enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family.
